English police have arrested two people after fatally shooting a young woman in a pub near Liverpool. A 30-year-old is being questioned on suspicion of murder, and a 19-year-old woman is being questioned as an accessory, the police said late Monday evening. “We will not rest until we have held those responsible to account and urge anyone with leads to contact us,” said Detective Superintendent Sue Coombs.
Late on Christmas Eve, a gunman broke into the Wallasey Village eatery and opened fire. A 26-year-old woman was killed and four men were injured, some seriously. The police assume that the attack was not aimed at the young woman, but that she became the victim by accident.
The police asked the population not to remain silent about the bloody deed. Several innocent people were believed to have died in a gang war in Liverpool this year, including a nine-year-old girl. The investigation is going very slowly. Police blame fear of gang revenge.
