In the letters the murderer sent to newspapers, he called himself the “BTK Strangler.” It stands for “Bind, Torture, Kill” – to bind, torture, kill. He has killed seven people in the past four years and created great fear among the residents of Wichita, Kansas. The police receive dozens of tips every week, but so far none have led to any leads. That’s why Bernie Drowatzky was skeptical when 48-year-old Ruth Finley stood in his office accompanied by her husband Ed on the afternoon of November 6, 1978.
Drowatzky, a bald detective with 34 years of experience, is one of the detectives hunting the BTK Killer, and normally Drowatzky’s department wouldn’t take on a case like Finley’s, but the BTK Killer is known for letters to send.
