Residential buildings are among the most common crime scenes in Hesse. According to police crime statistics, around 20 cases, around 40 percent of the completed capital offenses last year occurred in apartment buildings, single-family houses and apartments. This was announced by the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) on request.
In 2022 there were 243 cases of crimes against life, including 194 attempted and 49 completed crimes. According to the LKA, these included cases of bodily harm resulting in death and murder, as well as murder in connection with robbery or a sexual offence, manslaughter and minor manslaughter. Criminalists call such crimes “crude crimes”. Of the 49 completed crimes, 12 cases occurred in apartment buildings, making them the most frequently listed crime scenes.
The crime scene on the street followed in second place with 8 cases. There were also 5 cases in single-family homes, 3 cases each in an apartment and in a women’s shelter, and 2 cases in a hospital. According to the LKA, other crime scenes such as a restaurant, an indoor swimming pool or a railway system are listed once. In 6 completed cases, no crime scene could be researched using the statistics.
