According to the police, the perpetrators also shot during the spectacular robbery of a money transporter in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, in which several million euros were stolen. A police spokeswoman told the German Press Agency in Neubrandenburg on Friday how often and where exactly it was not announced for tactical reasons. The two security guards sitting in the van were not injured in the robbery. The perpetrators were reportedly armed with submachine guns. The “Ostseewelle” had previously reported that shooting had taken place.
As a result, the perpetrators are said to have stopped the money transporter at a construction site on the Gützkow motorway exit (West Pomerania-Greifswald), which had been set up by unknown persons several days ago. The police initially did not want to comment on this. The investigations were still ongoing.
According to further findings, the robbers probably knew the company’s tours better. The attacked transport was on its way from Greifswald to the Bundesbank branch in Neubrandenburg with a large sum of money, a police spokeswoman said. The money, presumably income from business people, should probably be paid in there, it was said. The A20 Gützkow slip road is the fastest southbound connection from Greifswald to Neubrandenburg.
The search by the police for the perpetrators is ongoing and has now been extended nationwide. According to the police, the preparation of the crime and the procedure itself speak for organized crime.
