In many cases, the perpetrators are partners or former partners. There have been dozens of such cases in Italy this year.
The 21-year-old is accused of killing the Italian student two weeks ago after a date. The young woman’s body was only discovered after days of searching in a ravine in the north of the country. After his extradition, the murder suspect was taken to a prison in the northern Italian city of Verona. He is scheduled to go on trial next year.
