Ambulances and police cars are parked in the quiet residential area in the small village of Langweid near Augsburg. In the house where a terrible crime has taken place, the windows are brightly lit.

A man is said to have shot three people in an apartment building there: two women and a man. He seriously injured two other people on Friday evening.

According to the police, the suspect is said to have lived in the house himself and shot his neighbors. Investigators are assuming a neighborhood dispute. “The suspect and the three people who were killed are neighbors who lived in the same apartment building,” the police said at night. “According to initial findings, the act was preceded by a neighborhood dispute.”

No evidence of other crime scenes

Around 7:15 p.m., the suspect killed three people with a firearm in the apartment building on Schubertstrasse, the statement said. It was two women aged 49 and 72 and a 52-year-old man.

The police did not say whether they were killed in one of the apartments: “We are only talking about the fact that the three victims were killed in the apartment building and do not want to go into detail.”

The alleged perpetrator then went to another house on Hochvogelstrasse and injured a 32-year-old and a 44-year-old there with a firearm. The two are currently being treated in a hospital. According to the police, they were not in mortal danger. According to the police, there were initially no indications of possible other crime scenes.

Criminal police are investigating

According to the police, the alleged perpetrator and the two injured people also knew each other. Exactly how was not disclosed.

The 64-year-old was arrested after the crime in Langweid am Lech in Swabia, said the police headquarters in Swabia North in consultation with the public prosecutor. The specific background to the crime is currently still the subject of the investigation.

As the “Augsburger Allgemeine” reported, a helicopter sometimes circled over the small town. The police had started the search for the perpetrator after being alerted about the shots – and stopped the 64-year-old in his car shortly afterwards. “He allowed himself to be arrested without resistance,” said a police spokesman.

The crime scene was cordoned off with warning tape, forensics on site. Nothing can be said about the background yet, and the spokesman said they wanted to avoid speculation. “We simply have too many victims for that.” The criminal police took up the investigation.
