A 60-year-old man is said to have killed his 87-year-old mother in the small East Frisian town of Weener. The Aurich public prosecutor’s office and the Leer/Emden police station announced this on Sunday afternoon.
The emergency services were informed by an emergency call around 11:40 p.m. on Saturday that the woman had been killed. The police met the 60-year-old son at the location mentioned therein. According to the information, he admitted to being responsible for the woman’s death and was temporarily arrested. The North District Court issued an arrest warrant and the man was taken into custody.
The investigation is ongoing. The public prosecutor’s office and the police initially did not provide any further information about the circumstances of the crime.
