The president of the Community, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, culminates this weekend her convulsive journey towards the leadership of the PP in Madrid, an issue that became controversial and that was entrenched for months with the old national leadership, finally costing the position of Paul Married.

Ayuso will assume total power in this conclave, which is being held at Ifema Madrid this Friday and Saturday, something he had been fighting for for some time. It was just after the summer holidays last year when the Madrid leader shared her intention to take a step forward to preside over the Madrid PP at an informal meal with journalists.

The Madrid president then said that she wanted to bring to the party the illusion of the 4-M elections, when she swept the polls and touched the absolute majority and that it was time to end the interim in which the party had been plunged since the departure of Cristina Cifuentes.

Ayuso revealed that he had already told Casado about his decision and that he hoped that the regional Congress would be held as soon as possible, something that he constantly repeated. Important leaders of the PP, including the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, were betting that the formation would be commanded by a person without an institutional position, a ‘third way’ for which the current general secretary, Ana Camíns, sounded.

Be that as it may, the Madrid leader will achieve this Friday, after the vote that will take place at 7:00 p.m., to gain total control of the party in the region.
