The warning strike on public transport continues on Thursday. Everything is going as planned, said Katja Barthold on Thursday morning at the request of the German Press Agency. Verdi has called on employees of municipal transport companies in Erfurt, Gera, Jena, Mühlhausen, Nordhausen, Sondershausen, Weimar, the Weimarer Land district and the Saale-Holzland district to stop work in order to increase the pressure in the current collective bargaining round. The two-day warning strike affects both scheduled journeys and school transport.
This Thursday there will be a central strike demonstration in Erfurt, to which several hundred participants as well as Thuringia’s Infrastructure Minister Susanna Karawanskij (Left) are expected.
In addition to relief for the 2,100 employees in Thuringia, the union is demanding, among other things, an increase in wages by 650 euros per month, the introduction of surcharges for Saturday work of 20 percent and an increase in surcharges for shift work to 100 euros. According to the union, the third round of negotiations was unilaterally canceled by the employers. The next negotiations are planned for March 13th in Thuringia.
Verdi has planned industrial action in numerous federal states this week, regionally on different days.
