Clara María Martín García is already the new mayor of Segovia after the extraordinary plenary session held this Saturday, with only one vote of the 25 members of the Municipal Corporation, with 12 votes in favor, 9 in favor of the PP candidate, Pablo Pérez, and four blank votes.

Martín has received the alderman’s medal from the acting mayor, Jesús García Zamora, and the baton of command of the city from Clara Luquero. In her speech, the new mayor has promised to continue with all the projects started and to give the city “a transformative boost”, with the opportunity that European Funds represent, reports Ical.

Martín has not wanted to reveal how his government team will be.

Until the plenary session on July 1, in which the new socialist councilor, María Antonia Sanz, will take office, after the vacancy left today by Clara Luquero, she will maintain the powers of Urban Planning and Historical Heritage, in addition to the Mayor’s Office.

Clara Martín has been supported in this extraordinary plenary session of proclamation as mayor by the Minister of Justice, Pilar Llop; the Government delegate in Castilla y León and deputy secretary general of the PSOECyL, Virginia Virginia Barcones; the Chief of Staff of the President of the Government, Óscar López; the general secretary of the PSOE of Segovia, José Luis Aceves, together with the main local authorities, and representatives of the employers’ association and the unions.
