The Alameda County Sheriff’s Department announced Saturday. Officials shared images on social media of the synthetic opioids that were seized during the operation.
According to Sergeant Ray Kelly (Spokesman), raids were conducted on Friday and revealed a major fentanyl production lab. CBS San Francisco reports. According to CBS San Francisco, one suspect was arrested for the operation and another is still at large.
Police claimed that the drugs were found in Oakland and Hayward, California, and “headed for the streets” of the Bay Area.
Authorities stated that the amount of fentanyl confiscated is equivalent to 42,000g. The Drug Enforcement Administration states that one kilogram of Fentanyl could kill up to 500,000 people. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention consider fentanyl to be the main driver of overdose deaths in America. It is 100 times more potent that morphine.
The Alameda County Sheriff’s Department tweeted Saturday, “This is a glimpse at the fentanyl pandemic.”
