The federal and state governments have decided: The 49-euro ticket for local public transport (ÖPNV) in Germany should come according to media information. According to the decision of the Conference of Prime Ministers, the offer should be implemented “as soon as possible”, the target is January 1, 2023.

The federal government had previously promised to provide the states with 1.5 billion euros to finance the ticket, and the states want to contribute the same amount. In addition, the federal government wants to make an additional one billion euros available annually for the expansion of public transport.

The offer is to be marketed under the name “Deutschlandticket”. The “Spiegel” was the first to report on the agreement between the federal and state governments.
