In his own words, RB Leipzig professional Xaver Schlager has come to terms with the tight schedule of the past few weeks. “The first few weeks with such a high level of stress are tough, but at some point your body gets used to it,” said the midfielder to the online portal “rblive.de” after Leipzig’s game against SC Freiburg (3-1). “I personally feel quite good, my body doesn’t cause any major problems.”
The winning streak, RB has been unbeaten in twelve games, has also contributed to Schlager: “You always have energy with victories. It gives you strength and you always want to keep going.”
RB have played a total of twelve games in the Bundesliga, DFB Cup and Champions League since October 1st. In the last competitive game before the World Cup break, the Saxons will play Werder Bremen on Saturday (3:30 p.m. / Sky).
Schlager can still gain something from the break. “The smartest thing is to fly somewhere warm. Or go into the cold, I’ll do that. Ski a bit or do things like that. Enjoy home, charge your batteries. I think it’s good, because then in March you don’t have the feeling that out of breath,” he said. Before that, however, there are still two friendlies for the people of Messestadt.
