FC Augsburg has ended the intensive relegation battle against VfB Stuttgart with several injuries. Full-back Iago had to leave the field in the first half of the 1-1 draw in the Bundesliga on Friday evening with a bandaged thigh and is threatening to be out for the time being with a muscle injury.

Goalscorer Dion Beljo had to be substituted at half-time in the home game after injuring his foot when Stuttgart’s Hiroki Ito fouled him. “He has a thick ankle,” said FCA coach Enrico Maassen after the game. Mads Pedersen also had to leave early because the defender had a “tweaked” muscle.

“We had to make five substitutions either injured or injured,” Maassen said. In the end of the season things get more intense. “The players noticed that some had to go beyond the point,” said Augsburg manager Stefan Reuter. “We have to be prepared for intensive weeks until the end. We accept them,” assured the managing director. With 30 points, FCA in 13th place is not yet saved.
