The Thai woman Fai Phannarai, who fights for the Hamburg boxing stable “Boxen im Norden”, has successfully defended her world championship belt of the WIBF and WBF associations in super bantamweight. The 22-year-old living in Nuremberg, whose real name is Phannarai Netisri, defeated the 42-year-old Ana Arrazola from Mexico on points on Monday evening in the cult club Große Freiheit 36 in St. Pauli.
Two judges scored the fight after ten rounds at 100:90 for Phannarai, the third judge came up with 99:91 for the Thai. The now unbeaten in twelve fights Phannarai impressed her opponent with speed and hard punch combinations.
“Up to now I’ve only ever fought against taller opponents,” said the 1.62 meter tall Thai woman. “Arrazola was tactically good, but I was faster.” Still, she wasn’t entirely satisfied with herself. “My footwork could have been better.”
At the same venue, in May of that year, she defeated Dominican Crystal Garcia Nova, thereby winning her first world titles. “I always feel comfortable in Hamburg, it’s like my second home,” said Phannarai. “The audience is great!”
