The gendarmes from Salon-de-Provence conducted road checks in anticipation of the summer season. Between 5 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. the police were stationed on the road from Miramas, near the aerodrome in Eyguieres-du-Rhone. According to police, this is a section where speeding is a regular occurrence, particularly when people are leaving nightclubs. Three speeding tickets were issued to motorists who did not test positive for alcohol or narcotics. Two speeding tickets were issued at 107 km/h, instead of 80, and one at 135km/h. Driver of the last vehicle was immediately expelled from driving privileges.
It was also on this road that a young lady aged 21 was killed by a drunk driver who didn’t have a license and hit her while she was riding a scooter. After being released for the investigation, the man in question was eventually arrested, referred, and placed in prison at the start of last week.
