The City Council of Alicante has organized a wide Security and Traffic device to celebrate the events of Bonfires, with surveillance of the Local Police, which will coordinate the cuts and detours together with the Control Room for the regulation of traffic lights, and the use of the public transport.
The circuit is scheduled to be restricted from Saturday, June 18, from 7:00 a.m. and will open at 8:00 a.m. on June 25, and will be delimited as previous editions by the following routes, according to the direction of circulation:
Avenida Doctor Gadea – Paseo de Soto – Paseo de Marvá – Avenida Benito Pérez Galdós – Músico Oscar Tordera Iñesta – Poeta Carmelo Calvo – Padre Mariana- Plaza de Santa Teresa – Cuesta de la Fábrica – Vázquez de Mella- Doña Violante – Juan Bautista Lafora – Ramón y Cajal avenue.
The Councilor for Mobility, José Ramón González, explained that “the perimeter of the center, as in past Hogueras, will be permeable to vehicle traffic and Alfonso X el Sabio avenue and Avenida de la Estación will be cut off from general traffic.” In this way, particular measures will be arbitrated to the restricted traffic of public services and residents, which will allow pedestrians to circulate freely along these busy roads during all the holidays. Circulation in the downtown area of the city will be limited to 20 km/hour.
The City Council calls on citizens not to use private vehicles and to access the downtown area of the city by public transport, bus or TRAM, occupied by numerous monuments of les Fogueres, Barraques and racós, «what introduces infinite difficulties to road traffic».
