The Junta de Castilla y León and the Diputación de Salamanca will contribute a total of 15 million euros, co-financed in equal parts, to promote the project to supply the Sierra de Francia from the Navamuño reservoir. The Minister for the Environment, Housing and Territory Planning, Juan Carlos Suárez-Quiñones, has also announced that this Tuesday the drafting of the project will go out to tender, which provides for the construction of a 72-kilometre pipeline to carry water between a point and other.
Suárez-Quiñones signed today, Monday, together with the president of La Salina, Javier Iglesias, the general action protocol in which the Sierra de Francia and Embalse de Béjar associations and the City Council of the textile city also participate.
The document establishes the basic scheme of collaboration between the parties to facilitate the achievement of the necessary actions to undertake, “in the shortest possible time”, the works that guarantee the supply of drinking water “in adequate quantity and quality” for the 12 localities initially planned, with a population of 3,500 inhabitants in the normal period and 12,000 in the summer period.
Those are La Alberca, Las Casas del Conde, Cepeda, Garcibuey, Herguijuela de la Sierra, Madroñal, Miranda del Castañar, Mogarraz, Monforte de la Sierra, San Martín del Castañar, Sequeros and Villanueva del Conde. However, according to the counselor, “all the nuclei that need it in the area will be attended to”, for which “the system will be oversized”, says Ical. Thus, tomorrow, May 31, 2022, a tender will be held in the State Contracting Platform the contract for the drafting of the project and technical assistance to the construction management, amounting to 181,500 euros.
The project has a planned drafting period of five months, a period during which the corresponding agreements will be processed and the necessary authorizations will be obtained. The administrative and environmental processing of the project is estimated to take two months. Finally, the execution of the works is established in two years. With this calendar, it is expected that the system will be operational in the second half of 2025.
