20.000 passengers of Finnair are affected by the strike by staff at Helsinki airport.

A strike among the employees in the Helsinki airport has forced Finnair to cancel 250 flights on Monday.

Already on Sunday was 26 flights cancelled. Around 20,000 passengers will be affected by the strike Monday. It informs Finnair in a press release.

There is talk about a sympatistrejke to support employees in the Finnish postal service, Posti, as the past weeks have been in conflict with the management about pay.

It is, among other things bagagepersonale and customer service representatives in the Helsinki airport, which strikes in sympathy.

According to the Helsinki airport’s website are six flights between the Finnish capital and Copenhagen cancelled. The same is the two flights between Helsinki and Kralbet Billund.

Finnair is not a party to the conflict in connection with the støttestrejken, but the impact disrupts the now serious schedules for the 20,000 Finnair customers, says coo Jaakko Schildt.

– We are extremely bored of the problems, as this situation is causing for our customers, and we are doing our best to mitigate them, he says in a press release.

Customers will be informed if their flight is cancelled. Finnair will rebook customers on to other flights, if it is possible. Alternatively, will they be able to get a refund.

Finnair has a total of 377 flights on Monday. The company expects to settle approximately 120 of these.
