Maga forces wanted to bring the US back to a state where there is “no right to abortion, no right to privacy, no right to contraceptives, no right to marry who you love,” Biden’s speech continued.

The President also wants to use the speech in the historic city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution were adopted, to warn of threats to democracy. “For a long time we have assured ourselves that American democracy is guaranteed. It is not. We must defend it. Protect it. Stand up for it. Each and every one of us.”

Despite the “threats” to the United States, Biden is optimistic, according to the text of the speech: “There is an incredible future ahead of the United States if we only choose it.” The speech is scheduled to begin at 02:00 CEST.

The President is currently making several visits to his home state of Pennsylvania in the east of the country, which is one of the hottest states in November’s midterm congressional elections. Biden’s Democratic Party could lose its majorities in both houses of Congress to the Republicans.

Recently, however, the hopes of the Democrats have increased that they will still be able to avert the long-predicted election debacle in November. Among other things, the party is betting that candidates loyal to Trump could go down less well with voters than the ex-president and his camp expected. Polls already show a better picture for the Democrats than they did a few months ago.
