Israel and the US also agreed to develop an aid plan for the Gaza Strip, Blinken added after a nearly eight-hour meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

As the White House announced on Monday (local time), Biden will travel from Israel to Jordan on Wednesday, where he will meet Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Jordan’s King Abdullah II.

Since Hamas’ major attack on Israel from the Gaza Strip on October 7th, Israel has completely sealed off the area and is carrying out massive retaliatory attacks there. The UN and WHO warned of a humanitarian catastrophe and disease outbreak.

Before Blinken’s announcement, several US media outlets had already reported that US and Israeli government representatives had discussed a possible visit by Biden.
