The verdict against a couple who killed their roommate is final. On November 15, the Federal Court of Justice rejected the defense’s appeals as unfounded, as the Ulm regional court announced on Wednesday. The two defendants were each sentenced to life imprisonment for murder on April 6th.

The court saw it as proven that the then 27-year-old and her 24-year-old boyfriend had severely mistreated and ultimately killed the woman’s shared roommate and ex-boyfriend in their house in Laichingen (Alb-Donau district). The man was strangled one night in early June 2022. The woman is said to have incited her boyfriend against his roommate through lies and manipulation.

The defendant’s defense attorney had called for an acquittal, and the 24-year-old’s defense attorney had called for a prison sentence of three years and three months for grievous bodily harm. Both appealed after the verdict.
