Due to a cable theft in Berlin-Pankow, train services on lines S2 and S8 were interrupted on Friday morning. The S2 did not run between Nordbahnhof and Blankenburg and the S8 did not run between Bornholmer Straße and Blankenburg, as the S-Bahn Berlin announced in the morning. The S85 did not run at all for the time being.
A replacement bus service was set up for the Bornholmer Straße, Pankow, Pankow-Heinersdorf and Blankenburg stops. Accordingly, the shuttle service runs every 20 minutes. The S-Bahn Berlin advises to bypass the affected section, for example with the tram 50 between Bornholmer Straße and Pankow.
When the police arrived on site early in the morning, various cut cables were still lying on the ground for transport, as a spokeswoman for the federal police said. However, there was no trace of the perpetrators. It is currently being determined how many cables were stolen. The securing of evidence continued in the morning.
