Knowing about his ADHD has changed the way comedian and author Felix Lobrecht sees his life. “Now I understand better why I found some things so difficult,” said the 34-year-old to “Stern” about the diagnosed attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

According to Lobrecht, no teacher recognized his illness during his school days. But he was glad that he didn’t get any medication at the time. “I was young at a time when many doctors were throwing Ritalin around. I wouldn’t have been in the mood for it either.” The drug has a stimulating effect. His ADHD disease is one reason for his restlessness, said Lobrecht. Although it leads to professional success, it harms his private life.

Lobrecht moderates the podcast “Gemischtes Hack”. In his novel “Sonne und Beton” he wrote about his youth in Berlin’s Gropiusstadt. The story has now been filmed and will be in cinemas on Thursday (March 2nd).
