In order to rob him of his daily income, a man brutally attacked the operator of a mulled wine stand at the Rothenburg Christmas market. On the way to his car, he first knocked down the victim, then kicked his feet several times on the man lying on the ground, the police said on Sunday.

Two passers-by became aware of the situation on Friday evening through his calls for help. They informed the police and pursued the perpetrator, who initially fled but was arrested after a short chase. The 37-year-old is now being investigated on suspicion of attempted robbery. The 50-year-old market stall operator was treated as an outpatient in a hospital after the attack in the Ansbach district with minor injuries.
