Whether bicycle training for women who have fled, help for foster families for disabled children or the construction of schools in Afghanistan – the Funke media group has awarded five women the “Goldene Bild der Frau” prize for their voluntary commitment.

The prizes were presented on Wednesday evening in Hamburg as part of a gala moderated by Kai Pflaume. The awards are endowed with 10,000 euros per project.

The women come from Dorsten (North Rhine-Westphalia), Freiburg (Baden-Württemberg), Oststeinbek (Schleswig-Holstein), Ovelgönne (Lower Saxony) and Munich (Bavaria). In addition, readers of the magazine “Bild der Frau” could decide who would receive an additional 30,000 euros.
