A 62-year-old man was fatally injured by several knife wounds in a facility for people in need of care with addictions in Hamm. His 48-year-old roommate was urgently suspected and provisionally arrested, police and prosecutors said on Thursday. In the evening, an arrest warrant was issued for attempted murder and dangerous bodily harm. According to the police, the man denies the crime and refers to another, previously unknown man who, according to him, is said to have stabbed.
The 62-year-old was found in his room at the facility early Wednesday morning. He underwent an emergency operation and is now said to be out of danger, according to investigators. The suspect was due to appear before a magistrate on Thursday.
