If you travel to the Wachau in spring, it is best to climb up to the Dürnstein ruins. From there you have the most beautiful view of the World Heritage Site, the Danube, the blooming apricot trees. And to a romantic town where a legend once happened. The English king Richard the Lionheart is said to have been imprisoned here in 1192 after a crusade, until he was freed by Blondel de Nesle: his friend and greatest singer of the time.
