An emergency call triggered a major police operation at the ICC convention center in Berlin. A caller reported two people with dangerous objects in the area of the ICC in Berlin-Charlottenburg around 9 a.m., a police spokesman said on Wednesday. The police searched the huge building and the surrounding area, but found nothing after more than an hour. Special units (SEK) were also involved in the operation.
The broadcaster RBB had written on Twitter that “people with long weapons” had been sighted. The police spokesman did not confirm this. The alarm call was somewhat unclear, it said. It is also not excluded that it is a matter of false information. It was initially not known whether an event was taking place in the ICC on Wednesday morning.
