The private aid organization SOS Méditerranée has rescued a little more than 30 migrants from an unseaworthy inflatable boat in the Mediterranean. The crew of the sea rescue ship “Ocean Viking” was previously made aware of the emergency, as the organization wrote on Twitter on Saturday. The operation therefore took place in deep darkness. The volunteers then looked after the people in the ship’s ambulance.
Meanwhile, the organization Doctors Without Borders awaited their ship “Geo Barents” with nearly 300 rescued boat migrants on Saturday in the southern Italian city of Taranto (Taranto) in Puglia, as they wrote on Twitter. The Italian authorities assigned the city to the rescue ship on Friday as a safe haven where people can disembark.
