Six concerts, four performance venues over five nights. Vocal Folies will run from Tuesday, May 31 to Saturday, June 4. The “in” is finally here. He will sing and leave his songs and notes in Agen on the weekend of Pentecost.
The “in” will begin with a voice that has been pleasing ears for more than thirty years. The voice carries words that are funny, melancholy and sometimes even satirical, but they always accurately evoke the sea, exile without procrastination, feminism, or return. Juliette, festival godmother, is the voice of this singer. A free-spirited, joyous, and open-hearted singer who loves to mix humor with melancholy.
The following days will offer the opportunity to see groups that use their voices only: Les Itinerantes, a trio from Paris who take the audience on a journey through the centuries. The Brothers Brothers, a comedy quartet made up of four men, are a cure-all for gloom. The Cinq de coeur quintet mixes sketches with musical standards in a bathroom setting. It is certain to cause zygomatic cramps.
These two groups will be accompanied with instruments but they will always combine vocal performance, humor, and impertinence. We can count on the fiery trio of singers-multi-instrumentalists-actors of Triwap, who reveal a gallery of colorful characters, and on the lyrical singers of Cata Divas, who free themselves with mischief and virtuosity from the narrow framework of the ‘opera.
