The hostage-taking at Hamburg Airport ended after a good 18 hours. The police announced this on Sunday. The 35-year-old hostage-taker allowed himself to be arrested without resistance. The four-year-old child in his control was apparently unharmed. The man drove a car onto the airport tarmac on Saturday evening. The background to the incident is said to be a custody dispute, the police said. The airport was closed on Saturday evening for security reasons. According to Hamburg Airport, more than 120 flights were canceled. Preparations are currently underway to resume flight operations.
