An eleven-year-old child died in a serious traffic accident in Hamburg on Thursday afternoon. The boy got off a bus with his father and wanted to cross the street, police said. The two pedestrians were hit by a trike. The child died at the scene of the accident.

The father, whose age the police gave as 41 and the fire department as 45, suffered serious injuries. The 43-year-old driver of the motorized tricycle was also seriously injured. Her passenger, a youth aged 15 or 16, suffered minor injuries.

Several ambulances rushed to the scene of the accident. A rescue helicopter was also deployed and, according to the fire department, brought the father to a clinic. The trike driver and her teenage passenger were escorted to the hospital by an ambulance.

At least ten people who saw the accident were treated by a German Red Cross crisis intervention team. The emergency pastoral care and the special task force discussion of the Hamburg fire brigade took care of the 34 emergency services. Thursday was the first day of school after the summer holidays in Hamburg. Significantly more people were out on the streets again.
