A child under 6 years old has died and five people have been injured in a frontal collision of two vehicles in La Palma.
The accident occurred in the first northbound tunnel of the Santa Cruz de La Palma bypass, on the LP-20, in BreƱa Alta.
Upon arrival, the health personnel confirmed that the 6-year-old girl was in cardiorespiratory arrest, so they began basic and advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers, without success, confirming her death.
In the affected vehicles was the minor under 6 years of age who has died, a minor, 14 years of age, who at the initial moment of assistance presented moderate trauma to the lower limb, a minor, 12 years of age , with moderate trauma to the chest and abdomen, and another minor under 13 years of age, with various moderate trauma.
All of them were transferred by the SUC to the General Hospital of La Palma.
Also injured in this fatal accident was a 53-year-old man with moderate chest and abdominal trauma. As a result of the impact, he was trapped inside so he was released by firefighters. Another 40-year-old man was also injured, with moderate trauma to the chest and lower limb.
The Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) traveled to the scene: two basic life support ambulances and a sanitized ambulance, in addition to a doctor and nurse from the Santa Cruz de La Palma and Mazo health centers, the Fire Department of La Palma, Local and National Police, Civil Guard and Highway Service.
