Monday, German chancellor and Russian president discussed the implementation of the Nord Stream 2.
The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, on Monday discussed natural gas to Europe, in a telephone conversation with the German chancellor, Angela Merkel.
It informs the Kremlin’s press service.
Issues of cooperation in the gas sector were discussed, including the prospects for the Russian gas pipeline through Ukraine after 1. January 2020 and the implementation of the Nord Stream 2 project, says the press office.
It was not immediately more information about what the two leaders further discussed about the pipeline.
Nord Stream 2 project will double Russia’s capacity to export gas across the Baltic sea to Germany.
the Project is supported by energigiganter as the Russian gas exporter Gazprom and Shell, Germany’s Uniper and BASF unit Wintershall, France’s Engie and Austria’s OMV.
the UNITED states has put pressure on Germany to stop the gas pipeline to bring Russian natural gas under the Baltic sea to Western europe. The UNITED states’argument is that the pipeline will increase Germany’s dependence on Russian energy resources.
The German chancellor, Angela Merkel, has previously said that she does not believe that the gas pipeline Nord Stream 2 will make the EU more dependent on Russia.
