3.6 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Newport Beach Area, USGS Reports
A 3.6 magnitude earthquake shook the Newport Beach area on Thursday afternoon, as confirmed by the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake occurred just before 5 p.m. at a depth of approximately 7 miles and was centered about a mile and a half from Newport Beach. Shortly after, a 3.4-magnitude aftershock was felt in the same vicinity, as reported by USGS.
