SV Darmstadt has achieved an important victory in the Bundesliga promotion fight and defended the top of the table in the 2nd soccer league.

Coach Torsten Lieberknecht’s team celebrates a sense of achievement after three games without a win and defeated 1. FC Kaiserslautern 2-0 (2-0). The Südhessen are two points ahead of 1. FC Heidenheim and three points ahead of Hamburger SV.

1. FC Heidenheim had played 5-2 after a 0-2 deficit in the Baden-Württemberg duel with Karlsruher SC on Friday. Darmstadt countered skillfully the day after, with Swiss-Serbian winter signing Filip Stojilkovic shining with two goals in the 36th and 43rd minutes. HSV, on the other hand, blundered on the 25th matchday.

Hamburg only draw against Kiel

Without his suspended coach Tim Walter, Hamburg remained without a win in the second game in a row and therefore have to worry about direct promotion again. Despite a long superiority in the north duel against Holstein Kiel, the Hanseatic League did not get past a 0-0 lead. According to the current status, the old master would have to go back to the promotion relegation like last year.

Walter representative Julian Hübner watched helplessly as his team miserably missed even the best chances. The actual head coach Walter had seen the red card at 2: 4 in the previous week at Karlsruher SC. In the second half, Hamburg weren’t quite as dominant as they were before the change, but they still had enough chances to score at least one goal.

However, HSV now has a little less stress downwards, since SC Paderborn seems to be running out of breath in the promotion race. Coach Lukas Kwasniok’s team lost 0-1 (0-0) at Jahn Regensburg and remained without a win in the fourth game in a row. The gap to the relegation place is now nine points.

The decisive goal for Regensburg came after a penalty kick after a video decision: Prince Osei Owusu (49th minute) scored for the outsider, who initially jumped to 14th place in the table and initially increased the lead over direct relegation zones to four points. On Sunday, however, Rostock, Braunschweig and Sandhausen, positioned behind Regensburg, can still catch up.
