Valencians will once again enjoy a day off this June in accordance with the 2022 work calendar approved by the Generalitat. This is Friday, June 24, the day on which the San Juan festivities are celebrated, a historical commemoration of Alicante that was added a few years ago to the list of paid and non-recoverable holidays.
In fact, last year the Consell did decide to establish San Juan as a recoverable holiday, so the workers who did not go to their job had to return the hours in the following months of 2021. A situation that will not be repeated this time according to the resolution published in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat Valenciana (DOGV).

In it, there is a total of twelve paid and non-recoverable holidays for work purposes, among which is Friday June 24 for San Juan. A decision made by the regional government since 2018, when it included this day among its regional festivities in order to encourage the tourist and cultural value of the traditional Bonfires of Alicante.
In this way, the workers of the entire Valencian Community will have a new bridge during the last weekend of June, in accordance with the 2022 work calendar. In addition, it will not be the only summer party, since Monday, August 15, will also It was declared a national holiday for the Assumption of the Virgin.
