The Minister of Agriculture, Gerardo Dueñas, warned yesterday in Palencia that “the final auction remains” in which “20 percent of the harvest” of the cereal is at stake since there are provinces where it has rained enough but in others it has “little water” fell.
This was stated, in statements to the media, before participating in the mass that was celebrated in honor of San Isidro in Palencia. “What you have to hope for is that it rains and that the temperature remains mild so that we have a harvest similar to last year’s,” he explained, reports Ep.
Thus, Gerardo Dueñas asked the patron saint of farmers that the weather be “as benevolent as possible”, and valued the dignity of the farmer and the rancher, “as a key piece”, not only in what has to do with food to the rest of society with quality products, but as “guarantor of the maintenance of the rural environment and the conservation of the natural heritage”.
On the other hand, the counselor asked the Government, after announcing 800 million more for the agri-food PERTE for the modernization of irrigation, to remember Castilla y León. In addition, he listed the general lines of his Ministry’s plan, which go through said renovation of irrigation, a change in the policy of young people and women, in insurance policy and a defense of a CAP “less environmentally sustainable and more economically”.
