In protest against the government, farmers in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia blocked several motorway entrances on Thursday morning. In the morning, there were, among other things, several tractors at the Döbeln Nord motorway exit on Autobahn 14, said Robert Erdmann from the “Land creates connection” association to the German Press Agency in the morning. He also came with his tractor to protest. According to the information, the police were also on site.
The protest is directed against the planned cancellation of tax breaks by the traffic light coalition. The tax relief for agricultural diesel and the tax exemption for agricultural and forestry machinery must be maintained, according to the call for the protests, which is available to the German Press Agency.
In addition to the Döbeln-Nord and -Ost exits, according to the police, farmers also blocked, for example, the Gera-Leumnitz exit on Autobahn 4 and a roundabout in Gera-Trebnitz leading to the entrance to Federal Highway 2 in Thuringia. In addition, 11 agricultural machines blocked the Coswig junction in Saxony-Anhalt. However, the police were not aware of any protests in Halle and Magdeburg.
In the Leipzig area, nine junctions on motorways 72 and 38 were blocked. In Zwickau, farmers moved from junction to junction with their machines. In the Dresden area, six driveways were not accessible in the morning.
According to a spokesman, ten driveways were initially blocked in the Görlitz Police Department’s area of responsibility that morning. There were 24 tractors at the Görlitz junction. According to the spokesman, the protest was peaceful and emergency lanes were kept clear.
