On Wednesday, the police continued the search for a pregnant woman who had been missing for weeks in the Main-Danube Canal near Nuremberg. The focus of the search is on the area between the Eibach lock and the Nuremberg harbor basin, said a police spokeswoman on Wednesday.

The 39-year-old was reported missing by her partner on December 9th. She lives in the area near the Main-Danube Canal in the Katzwang district of Nuremberg. The police assume a violent crime as the background to the disappearance.

On Tuesday, three divers and a boat crew had unsuccessfully searched the area around Katzwang in the channel with a sonar device. On Wednesday, a so-called scooter was also used – a drive that pulls the diver through the water and at the same time takes pictures. The search had been complicated by poor underwater visibility of just half a meter.

The police have so far had no indication of a possible suspect or other concrete evidence of the course of a possible crime. In such cases, however, a search in the sewer is an obvious measure. If the search does not yield any other clues, the bank of the canal will be combed from Thursday. Then cadaver dogs would also be used.
