Climate activist Greta Thunberg reacted quick-wittedly to a provocative tweet on Twitter and received a lot of encouragement for it. The influencer Andrew Tate, who repeatedly attracts attention with misogynistic statements, had boasted about the number of his cars and wrote to Thunberg: “Please give me your email address so that I can send you a complete list of my car collection and the enormous emissions can.”
The pioneer of the global climate protection movement Fridays for Future reacted on Wednesday: “Yes, please enlighten me, write to me at kleinpenisenergie@hastdunichtsbessereszutun.com.” That was the point of view of many Twitter users – on Thursday morning their post had 2.2 million likes – the post of the former kickboxer 172,000.
“This could be the best tweet ever,” US attorney George Conway commented on Thunberg’s message. Screenwriter Ed Solomon picked up on the high number of tweet views: “6′ 90 kg 36-year-old guy picks fight with 19-year-old girl and loses in front of 50 million people.” And Ugandan climate activist Nyombi Morris commemorated climate change with a picture of cars standing under water.
Tate then mocked the 19-year-old in a video smoking a cigar. Videos of him have been viewed online in large numbers for some time now, and time and again his statements are misogynistic and designed to be provocative. In the past he has said, among other things, that women are their husbands’ property and that rape victims share responsibility. In paid lessons, he gives tips on how to make money online and how to emulate it.
