Among the five German-speaking cities with over a million inhabitants, adults in Germany have a clear favorite metropolis. This is the result of a representative survey by the opinion research institute YouGov on behalf of the German Press Agency. When asked which of the German-speaking megacities they find “most likeable”, most voted for Hamburg (25 percent). Munich (19 percent), Vienna (15 percent), Berlin (12 percent) and Cologne (11 percent) follow. The rest didn’t want to choose either city.
Men and women are quite unanimous in terms of ranking on the subject. The young adults (18 to 24 years) are the most strikingly different in terms of age groups: among them, Munich is ahead of Hamburg, followed by Cologne, Berlin and Vienna.
