Presenter Yared Dibaba (53) is this year’s ambassador for the Low German writing competition “Vertell but mal” by NDR, Radio Bremen and the Hamburg Ohnsorg Theater. The motto this time was “Tohuus”, said the Norddeutsche Rundfunk (NDR) on Friday in Hamburg.

“For me, home is Ethiopia and kale as well as being on stage and my own four walls. The North Sea is at home. And the Low German language also gives me a home,” said Dibaba, who wrote the morning chat “Hör mal ‘n pray to” and was born in Ethiopia.

Prize money of more than 5000 euros awaits the six winners. In addition, the 26 best stories will be published as a book on June 25 at the closing event in the Ohnsorg Theater. Short stories must be submitted by February 28th.
