The fact that the Taliban are back in power in Afghanistan is not enough for the extremists. They also want to be noticed and recognized internationally. The latest project in terms of Taliban PR: their own super sleek sports car. However, it does not keep what the optics promise.
A few days ago, the Islamist extremists presented their pride: Several dozen engineers are said to have worked on the “Mada 9”, the result is said to be the first super sports car that was both designed and developed in Afghanistan.
However, it depends on how you define “supercar”: The Mada 9 does indeed look very sleek, is flat as a flounder and designed in glossy black from windows to rims. Behind the facade, however, there is much less of a sports car to be seen: an engine similar to that of a Toyota Corolla is said to be installed under the hood – this is not a sports car, however, but a compact competitor to the Golf from Volkswagen. An electric motor is said to later replace the current drive.
So did the Islamists focus primarily on design and neglect actual performance? There is no more detailed information on this: When the Mada 9 was presented, the terrorist group did not give any details about technical data. Driving impressions could not be collected either: the car was locked in the parking lot during the presentation.
