For fans, a Tesla is not a car. It’s a rolling computer. You don’t pay for the vehicle, you pay for the technology. For years, quality defects in the “S3XY” models have been excused with this argument – even if a roof flies off. But the facade is crumbling, because the autopilot and “full self-driving” appear again and again in the accident statistics and are thus in the sights of the authorities, who have long only stood on the sidelines.
