A man was killed in a head-on collision between two cars in the Erlangen-Höchstadt district in central Franconia. He died at the scene of the accident, the police said on Thursday night. An 18-year-old driver had previously encountered oncoming traffic on a road between Wachenroth and Mühlhausen. There he collided with the car of the 55-year-old. Due to the force of the impact, the vehicles were thrown off the road on Wednesday evening and remained there.

The person who caused the accident and the 38-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries in the collision. Paramedics took them to hospitals. A rescue helicopter was also deployed. Further details such as the cause of the accident were not initially known.
