Newcastle United are preparing a bid for Everton attacking star Anthony Gordon, 90min have learned. But Chelsea continue to monitor the situation.

90min had reported last week that Everton were ready to hear offers for the 21-year-old forward after failing to agree on an early extension of his contract, which runs until 2025.

As 90min learned, Newcastle have done their homework on Gordon and are happy with the scouting reports they have on him. Magpies boss Eddie Howe has already revealed he would like some Premier League experience in his squad, which Gordon would offer with over 60 games in the English top flight.

Everton need to generate some revenue this month to strengthen their squad with the likes of Arnaut Danjuma. Gordon’s one of those guys that could bring in some decent cash.

The youngster had already been in the sights of Chelsea FC in the summer, who had made several offers for the Englishman at the time. 90min have been told that interest remains and the Blues are following developments surrounding the player.

Interestingly, Gordon isn’t the only Everton player Newcastle and Chelsea are neck and neck for as 90min has learned both clubs are also interested in midfielder Amadou Onana.

The 21-year-old Belgian joined Everton from Lille in the summer for £33million and has impressed in a difficult first half of the season.
