The most apt sentence that can be used to describe the end of the investment year 2023 is: unexpected things often happen. After the historically bad mood that ended 2022, the current year has completely reconciled many investors and private savers. At the beginning of the year, the outlook was still extremely bleak: the previous year ended with a big loss for index investors: the DAX had lost 12 percent, the MSCI World even lost almost 20 percent. And the outlook was clouded given the enormous inflation and the weakening economy. Added to this was the turnaround in interest rates, which had already left a deep mark on share prices.
