Within just a quarter of an hour, icy conditions on Friday night on Autobahn 96 alone in the Landsberg am Lech area led to six accidents. A first responder was critically injured. Other participants were slightly injured, but in most cases it was only damage to the bodywork, as the traffic police in Fürstenfeldbruck announced.

The most serious accident occurred near Igling, where a driver left the road due to the icy road, hit the crash barrier on both sides and finally came to a standstill on the hard shoulder. Several people stopped to help. Shortly thereafter, another driver lost control at exactly this point and first caught the stationary cars and then one of the first responders. The 29-year-old was thrown over the crash barrier and had to undergo emergency surgery with life-threatening injuries.
